I had some moments today in therapy that took my breath away.

The first was in OT. I was talking to his therapist about great ideas for toys for his birthday (in less than a month!!!) and looked up from Amazon to see Parker lean his body back to raise his right arm and then pull his right arm down to spin the toy he was working with.   All. By Himself.  It caught my breath.

This is huge. Even now thinking about it it brings tears to my eyes. He did this several times.

He also used his left hand to spin the same toy, manipulating his hand and fingers to spin it instead of just whacking it or trying to grab it and eat it.  This is also huge progress.  When you pull/roll the toy down, it spins and plays part of a song.  Then you spin it again and it plays the next part.  With how much he likes music, it really is perfect for him.

The other moment that took my breath away was when it was time to go I said "Say bye bye."  His OT waved to him and HE WAVED BACK!  He bent his elbow, raised his arm and lowered his hand  two times.  Bye Bye. Then I said "Say thank you" and he said "Da do." Oh my gosh!!!!  Did he really just say that???

I don't know if I wrote this before, but he has been consciously babbling so much more this week and trying to say words. He will watch my mouth and really try to imitate. It has been a great week.

  1. Hip, hip hooray!! That is incredible news! I'm floored by how much he is progressing. Every time I read your posts, I realize what a miracle our bodies and brains are to do what they do. Parker is such a hard worker, too. You can tell he's determined to figure it out. He's so lucky to have you as his mama! :)
